Rolling along....

Happy Thanksgiving (a little late)!  I am finally getting around to updating my blog.  I had a little trouble, in that my blog was full and now I am officially paying to store all of these random memories.  Thanks blogspot.

Anyway, for Thanksgiving I was asked to bring vegetables and rolls.  Veggies - easy.  Rolls?  No way!  I come from a master roll-maker....my Mom truly has perfected the art of roll-making.  I have made them a few times with her (as I randomly would be in the kitchen as a young girl), but never before have I been 100% responsible for the roll-making.  This whole evening made me nervous, as I wanted to be as great as my Mom, but knowing that she is the ultimate.

So, it started late.  You must make the dough around 10:00 p.m. if you need to cook them at noon the next day...so here's where we start: side-by-side with our matching Bosch machines.  Have I mentioned how much I love my Bosch?  I do.

Mixing butter and sugar....yes, these are two of the best combinations.

Yeast.  Live, active, and brimming over.  Makes for yummy-roll-goodness.

Adding ingredients - and sporting my Dallas Cowboys shirt in a futile attempt to help them win on Thanksgiving Day....argh.

My cute Mom prepping one of the over-night rising bowls...

Playing with the dough!  And now it's off to the refrigerator to raise for 7-8 hours of good yeast-loving time...

And then early to rise, as we needed to have them rolled and on trays by 7:00 a.m. for a noon cook time.  Rolling...and rolling...and rolling....

Creating perfectly shaped rolls takes lots of hard work and Mom-Daughter love! :)

And finally....at their final rising stage, all rolled out, rolled up, and waiting for more magic.....

And then they become THIS!  Yummy delicious rolls that have raised beautifully and are ready for Thanksgiving.  In cooking class last month, our instructor (Sara) showed us a delicious pumpkin honeybutter, which was the perfect addition.

So after all of my angst about not living up to the precedent of delicious rolls... it all worked out.  Whew!  Happy Thanksgiving!
