You may have noticed the banner on the right side of my blog announcing the 2010 Hydrocephalus Association Walk - Salt Lake. I am participating in the planning of this event and calling out my friends and family for help.
The girl that has been in charge for the past few years ended up having some unexpected health complications and needed to drop the walk, so I agreed to "help"....which suddenly meant being the walk chair and I am in over my head for sure. Planning an educational event is one thing - planning a 5k in a ridiculously small amount of time (and trying to raise money for a charity at the same time) is another.
At this point, I find myself short on walkers and local companies to sponsor. If you think it sounds fun to participate in a beautiful, Saturday morning 5k walk/run around charming Wheeler Farm, please join in on September 18th. Breakfast/registration is at 9:00 - walk begins at 10:00. There will be music, food, a clown, face painting, firefighters....you name it. There's no minimum donation to participate so sign up, bring your whole family, and join in the fun!
(and I must disclose, I actually have a work event running at the same time so I will only be able to attend part of the walk....I know that's lame, as I am the walk chair, but I am doing my best to juggle everything)
Or, if you have connections to local businesses and can help me bring in donations (either monetary or in-kind), please help connect me to them. I am in a bind here and would really appreciate any help available.
Or, if you don't want to walk, don't have any connections to local business and simply want to donate $5 on behalf of finding a cure, you're always welcome to drop by the walk website. :)
If you want more information , please check out the website at http://walk4hydro.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=427666.
Please help - we need more research to find a cure. While I value the lessons I have learned from having hydrocephalus, it is one of the greatest adversities I have faced in my life and would be thrilled to hear that a brilliant scientist somewhere has discovered a way to make it just a little bit easier. Thanks in advance for your support!
love, Sarah
