Took my grandma shopping on Friday night and of the entire 90 minutes, here were my favorite two conversations....
Situation 1
We were passing as display of books and then the following:
Granee: Do they have President Monson's book?
Sarah: No, these are fictional books, not biographies.
Granee: So what?
Sarah: So these are made up stories, not real-life books.
Granee: Well, we need to find a copy. Let's look for one. (and then she starts pouring over all of the titles - which are fictional - so she doesn't find it)
Sarah: Why do you need that book? Jake and Jaimi gave you a copy for Christmas.
Granee: Grandma Cassie called and asked me to buy it for her.
Sarah: Grandma Cassie died almost 30 years ago.
Granee: So she's been waiting a long time. And she said really wants it so help me look.
Sarah: ...........
Situation 2 (and this same situation repeated itself a few times during the evening - almost exactly the same every time)
Granee: Is it Sunday?
Sarah: No, it's Friday.
Granee: Is it the 1st?
Sarah: No, it's the 26th.
Granee: Well then my hair appointment isn't today.
Sarah: No, you don't have a hair appointment tonight.
Granee: What? (shouting)
Sarah: Do you have your hearing aids in?
Granee: No.
Sarah: Why not?
Granee: I have a hair appointment today.
Sarah: ..........
Sigh. It was only 90 minutes, but it may as well have been 90 days. Never before has the grocery store taken me so long. Love her, but wow - my patience was wearing thin by the end.
Cute. Been there done that.
