I haven't had a chance to post about the 5th Annual Salt Lake City Hydrocephalus Association WALK yet, as life has been so busy - nor have I posted about the Silent Auction and Summer Party we recently posted (coming soon - waiting on photos). So....here goes....
As the Utah representative for the Hydrocephalus Association, I have the distinct honor to volunteer and help further the work they are currently pursuing. I am so grateful for HA and the many resources they provide for patients and families - as I know I went running to the internet for information as soon as I was diagnosed, and quickly found them. I believe in their mission and efforts.
So.....here comes the fun/challenging/thrilling/exhausting/fantastic part.....I am in charge of an upcoming 5k (twice around the trail) at Sugarhouse Park. This will occur on Saturday, September 3 and will be a walk/run/stroll so you can complete it at any pace. It is a great way to support local community efforts and help have an impact on the lives of people with this challenging condition.
It is free to register (sign up now - http://walk4hydro.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=476488) and anyone can join in - old or young! If you can't make it to Sugarhouse on the 3rd, sign up as a virtual walker (same site) and you can still join us in the fundraising efforts to help search for a cure. In return for a slice of your time and effort, you will have breakfast, snacks, fun times with kids/families, a beautiful September morning at the park, and an overall warm fuzzy! :)
This is one of those things where you separate the men from the boys and your friends from your casual acquaintances. It means a tremendous amount to me, as I sincerely struggle with this condition often, and would appreciate the support of friends, family, blog stalkers, etc in this endeavor. Please come out to participate - or support in your own capacity through volunteering with pre-event needs, etc. I have plenty of tasks to be shared and would love support either in advance or at the WALK....and thus ends my shameless plea.
It's one of those things where I can promise you will walk away thinking, "I'm really glad I was a part of that".
