I am in the midst of a story about Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland, two women who were out to prove that it was possible to encircle the world in just less than 80 days, as suggested in the fictional story of Jules Verne's hero Phileas Fogg when he went "around the world in eighty days".
In 1889, they both left from New York, departing different directions to break the record racing around the world - as single females, traveling alone, and capturing their stories as successful writers, breaking down barriers in what was still a "man's world".
If you are looking for a wonderful story, read it. Immediately. In love.
