Sick chick

I have a cold.....and it's a nasty one. And the worst part about having a cold is that hydrocephalus and congestion is about as compatible as a Red Sox fan and a Yankees fan being set up on a blind date - you know it's going get ugly. So, I am a sick chick with a ferocious headache....on the mend, but a little crabby.

I am worked from home today, which was certainly better than trying to go to work and pretend like I was a pleasant person....although tomorrow I definitely need to be there so I must pull myself together tonight. I think life is finally catching up to me. I realized today that since the start of 2010, I have only had 4 days off. Not kidding. We are 47 days into the new year and I have only had 4 of them away from work - and who am I really kidding about being "away"....with the magic of Blackberry, I'm never actually away. Although I find my work to be interesting and engaging, I need to re-balance here. And yes, as my mom likes to point out, some of this pressure to perform and work a million hours is self-imposed, but I can't stand failure.

Despite the lack of time away from work, there are definitely some parts that hardly feel like work. This past weekend I spent from Friday - Sunday in Park City for another ski event. Friday evening was the welcome dinner and here are a few pictures:
The room we used is a cool circular room with a fireplace in the middle. The caterer set up all of the food around the circular fire place too so it was really spectacular when participants entered the room.

This is me and Dr. Abrams. He was the course director and a great friend. He was the one who teased me about "needing to ski" and I finally got up the courage to embarrass myself and try. :) One of the industry support reps that paid money to exhibit was unable to make it so he was on the phone with her during this photo - we told her we would take a picture of ourselves and send it to her so it would be like she was there in person....which was fun, but we still missed seeing you in person Cyd!
And a quick affection-attack to Matt Little and the Newpark Resort.....I promised to give him a shout out for this glorious bucket of dietCoke that was delightfully waiting for me early Sunday morning, welcoming me to work when I had sore muscles from skiing.I am ready to feel better....right now....okay, I could be patient and wait 7 minutes or so, but that's about it. This is totally preventing singing in the shower, dancing around the house, and especially being as efficient as I would like.

Earlier I was laying in bed with dietCoke on my nightstand, my laptop on my belly, and coughing into my elbow....lamenting this silly cold infecting my body. I solved the problem by making rice krispy treats....yum! I am almost certain that they made me physically feel better because they were so delicious. Think healthy thoughts for me please.
