The Land of North Carolina

I am waiting in North Carolina....sitting on the FLOOR of the airport in Charlotte (yes Sara, likely contracting a disease), but the dude next to me apparently forgot that gentlemen stand so ladies can sit...but whatever.  Instead.  He is comfortably sitting on a chair watching a movie on his laptop - while I sit on the floor...wearing what used to be my favorite jeans, but will now be burned when I get home to help contain the germs that are infesting them from sitting on the floor.

Okay.  Time to let go of my bitterness that he has no social grace.

The trip was great.  I volunteer for the Hydrocephalus Association, non-profit organization based in San Francisco, and had the opportunity this weekend to travel to North Carolina to participate in an event with them.  It was incredible and I am so glad I made the effort to come.  It is an incredibly busy time in my work and personal life, so I had serious reserves about making time for this trip, but I am very grateful I made the decision to come out because it was wonderful.

Here are the few pictures I took with my phone (forgot my camera)....

Looking out my hotel window.  Everything was really green and pretty - it rained throughout the trip so everything looked especially lush.

Here's a shot of our volunteer work group hard at work yesterday morning.
This is where our group had dinner together last night.  It was pretty good; I am trying really hard to branch out my seafood liking (even though it's REALLY not my preference) so I ordered cedar-planked salmon and it was pretty good.  Part of the problem is just thinking about the fish swimming in water....so I kept telling myself in my mind that it was just chicken and then I was okay.  Why am I totally fine eating meat and chicken but the origin of fish makes me absolutely nauseated?

well....plane to Detroit is loading....then home.  Wish me well.
