Today I had a moment in time. Do you know what I mean? One of those poignant moments in your life when something happens that you think, "There will never be a time when I will forget this moment" because either your reaction was so strong, or perhaps because you knew that it would change the course of your life.
I had one of those moments today and it was surreal. It's interesting how quickly they become burned in your mind - and the characteristics of the surroundings (sterile, void from smell, bright colored, quiet) become vividly noticeable and stick in your mind. The words used (this is only for family members.....I'd like you to leave....) replay in perfect diction over and over.
Perhaps moments like this just happen out of stochastic fashion, but I think there's something more to it. I think they happen to help us to grow - and to teach us a lesson about how we treat other people.
So in these hours following my moment, I am growing. And for the record, I don't believe that a family must be defined by blood alone. Nor do I believe that good people make good choices - I think good people can make exceptionally poor choices.
Today write in your journal or on your blog about a moment in time you will never forget. It's surprising how many details and how much emotion will likely be present.
