I am a huge fan of LDS General Conference, which occurs semi-annually in the spring and fall. This Saturday and Sunday we will have the distinct opportunity to hear messages about family, repentance, faith, hope, Jesus Christ, service, and love - and of course many more topics.
My family made this a super special experience in that it was a very reverent way in our house, which didn't happen very often amongst our the hustle and bustle of the Sowby home. My mom in particular has a deep love of General Conference and shared this joy with me, as she would sing every song, joyfully smile along with the speakers, and shed tears as she felt the spirit of the Lord speak to her during certain talks.
As an adult in my own home, I have likewise had many amazing, unspeakable moments during General Conference where the messages presented completed puzzles I was struggling to deal with in my mind - and when I need a pick-me-up, I will pull out previous sessions of conference on DVD and rewatch them to remind me of the special feelings I have felt.
April conference is exciting because of the beautiful flowers and the start of the spring season, announcing the coming of Easter and celebration of Christ resurrection. October conference is invigorating because the world is starting the process of autumn, changing of leaves, and bringing on the celebration of Christ birth.
Awww, how I love General Conference.
