So tomorrow is a big day.....5 years of this shunt!!
I will post more tomorrow, but for now, suffice it to say that this is a very big day for me. I thought I would celebrate this occasion with a special vacation somewhere lovely, but I have a large work event going on for the next few days that would not allow for any kind of time away. Instead, I will be celebrating in a small way now - but knowing that it means a great deal to me.
There's something scary and rewarding about knowing that as of tomorrow, I have beat the statistics, saying that shunts only last an average of 3-5 years. This marks the longest any of my shunts have lasted and I am so pleased to be breaking a personal record, although I am fully willing to admit that I have hardly any control over the actual shunt performance.
Regardless, I am very happy to have a full head of hair and a functioning shunt today. Happy 5th Birthday (tomorrow) to me!!
