When I was a little girl, I wanted nothing more than to be Vanna White. True story! I was one of the top spellers in my classes, frequently winning the spelling competitions, and I loved to play dress-ups, so I couldn't imagine a more perfect job than Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune. Getting paid to wear fancy dresses and spell big words? My version of heaven.
I was sure I would have my own fantastic wardrobe and would spend time imagining which good-looking star would be my Pat Sajak. We even had a little Wheel of Fortune game on our old, old Nintendo game system so I could practice my WoF skills.
I told my Mom plenty of times about my plans and she would gently say, "Why don't you plan on going to college first and then we'll see what happens?". Disdainfully I would reply, "Mom, I don't need college - I'm going to be Vanna White!".
Hey Mom, thanks for that little "college" tip. Seems like it worked out to be a pretty good idea. And Vanna, if you ever go on vacation, call me please!
