80, Ann Taylor, and eggs

My darling Grandma Thompson turned 80 yesterday....holy cow...80 years of life!
Last night we went to dinner - a quick phone-pic of the darling birthday girl, loving every minute!

This evening I needed a spring pick-me-up so my mom and I decided to go shop the Ann Taylor Spring Event. It was delightful. However....something happened that has NEVER happened to me before (and was particularly surprising given our surroundings). I had been trying on a new dress (which I loved and consequently couldn't leave the store without); while I was changing back into my clothes, a woman with rather mannish-hair and clothing stopped my mom to chat and the conversation went as follows.....

Random stranger: "That dress looked great on her."
Mother: "Thanks - yes, it fit her well."
Random stranger: "Is she your girlfriend?"

My mom was surprised by the question but hoped that she meant friend-who-is-a-girl, not the other type of girlfriend. My mom told her that I am her daughter and the woman smiled and nodded. When I came out of the dressing room and started shopping again, the random stranger came over and started looking at the same clothes I was looking at, telling me I looked good in all of the clothes I tried on, and attempting to drum up a conversation with me. I thought she was being a little awkward but just figured she was one of those strange women who needs to shop in pairs - which drives me crazy. My mom could quickly see what was going on and hurried over to drag me away to "see a skirt over here".....holy cow. I think I was about to be hit on my a lesbian. Oh my. In ultra-feminine Ann Taylor? I have been laughing about it all night.

Finally, I dyed Easter eggs tonight with Stella. As a dog, her involvement in the process was mostly focused on sitting impatiently and begging for treats in between each round of eggs. Here are pics from our egg-dyeing party. So, I now have eggs and presents from Ann Taylor courtesy of the Easter Bunny (I will act surprised for myself when I wake up and they are delightfully hanging in my closet). It's safe to say we have the secular side of Easter covered at our house..... :)
