I have been wanting to go to Tin Angel (local restaurant downtown) for awhile, but had not had an opportunity so I was pretty excited about the food. I was thinking my date was questionable, but nice (only met him once) so it can't be too bad, right?!
Except that he called before the date to say, "Hey, my best friend wants to join us - can we make it a double?" Since that would inevitably relieve some pressure on making conversation, I said, "Sure". Then he disclosed that his best friend is a chick who is dating another chick. Strong thinking, Einstein.....take a first date out with your lesbian best friend and her girlfriend. Just what every girl looks forward to....competing for your attention on the date with another girl - or in this case, two. But don't worry, it was only awkward as I got to watch them open-mouth kiss each other every 4 minutes and say, "I love you". Not homophobic, but not interested - it would annoy me just as much if it was a heterosexual couple. Did you want to get to know me or did you want to watch them provide a show?
Needless to say, before the date started, I knew this would be a one-hit-wonder. This will be one of those stories I will tell my children someday....."before I met your father, blah, blah, blah".....
And yes, his number has been changed in my phone to say "Do Not Answer" just to be safe. Finding a convent tomorrow.
Hahahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteOnly you, Sarah. That would ONLY happen to you. I laughed out loud and almost peed on myself...that must be a post-pregnancy thing...and probably TMI, but I'm going with it.
ReplyDeleteGreat story!
