- One of my employees left this week. She was not only just an employee, but had become a close friend so it was especially hard to see her go. I hired her almost immediately after accepting my job, so we've worked together for over 3 years and she was my first official hire as a new manager. My how time flies! She has accepted a position that will be wonderful for her at Des Moines University in Iowa; although I know her move was with the best of intentions and I am super excited for her, I am selfishly very sad for myself. But, I guess it's better to be sad when someone goes rather than excited - and this is a great move for her professionally and personally so I want to be happy, even though I am a selfish brat and think about how much I will miss her as a person and as a professional.
- Next, I needed to go to St. George for a few meetings at our hospital down there and decided I would add an extra day staying in Cedar City to visit the darling McClellan family. My dad unofficially adopted Casey as his son a few years ago and ever since Casey and I have teased that we are siblings. In fact, I told one of the people in Cedar this weekend that Casey was my brother (thinking I said it in a joking way) and the gentleman mentioned that I didn't look much like Casey. :) Casey and Cori are two of my most favorite people and I can't wait to go back....and of course Chandler couldn't be cuter!
Casey is in charge of the Utah Summer Games so I had the chance to check out the USG - went to the rodeo, visited events, had delicious dinner with Cori while Casey worked, etc. This little mini-vacation (for approximately 1.5 days) was exactly what I needed. Here are a few photos (and as you can tell, my real camera died during the trip so some of these are from my phone - please excuse the poor quality)...
Chandler was amazing at racquetball....can you believe he's only 3? He's did a great job.
At the tae kwon do event....there were some tiny little kids doing it (they looked like they couldn't be older than 5) - it was awesome. Then there were some people that looked like they should have stopped about 5 years ago....you get it.
The fantastic McClellan family - miss them already. It took about 2.6 seconds after I pulled out of the parking lot to start sobbing big alligator tears....I can't wait to come back and see you all again. It was so wonderful to spend time together. Thanks for everything - I love you guys.
-Father's Day. My dad and I are so similar that we can either completely please one another with our similar "get it done" nature.....or drive each other totally mad with our inability to be patient. Casey and I were chatting about a variety of subjects this weekend - and one of them happened to be the ways in which my dad and I were similar, which I found interesting. Even though we know how to push each other's buttons (and do it often - sometimes purposely, sometimes accidentally), I love you Dad.
