The Domestic Diva blog - and Scofield Triatholon?

Hi all! One of my goals for this year is to be better about updating my Domestic Diva blog. I like knowing that a recipe is tried and true based on the opinion of a cook I appreciate so I think it's only fair to share my recipes with others.

I stuck a link on the right hand side of this blog or you can get it from http://blogfordomesticdivas.blogspot.com/.

On an unrelated note, I have been thinking about doing the Scofield Triathlon for the past 2 years but keep chickening out. I happen to be weak and flabby so I'm sure I can only handle the Sprint Distance (yes, that is the shortest version for those keeping track), but it seems like a good thing to do.

My dad and I bike the SL Marathon each year, but that's not really an accomplishment in my mind (since I didn't actually get on a bike to practice last year until the night before the race). So, the last actual organized sporting race I participated in was the Portland Marathon...in October 2005. I'm feeling awfully sheepish about admitting this on my blog, but it needs to be said so I'll motivate myself. Public shame always works for me. :)

Anyway, I hate swimming, I hate running, and I don't actually own a bike so the whole triathlon thing is probably not a great idea, however, it seems like one of those things that you need to do once just to know you can do it - which was my same attitude about the marathon. I did not appreciate it (because again, I hate running), but I needed to prove to myself that I could do it if I wanted it enough.

So, I think I will soon find myself in the market for a bike (since I've always just borrowed in the past for biking events) and a wet suit (as the Scofield website says it's pretty much a necessity based on the chilly water conditions). Yikes.....cold water.....I know I am going to be mad at myself if I really decide to do this, but it might be a cool experience. We'll see.

If you've done the Scofield before (or I guess just any Sprint Distance triathlon), email me. Let's chat about why this may (or may not) be a good idea.

  1. Sarah, it's a great idea!! Mike is also going to be training for the Sprint Triathalon at Jordan Elle this fall. He is a great swimming coach, so if you need some assistance, I'm sure he would help! Go for it girl!

  2. Hey I think ANY triathalon is an accomplishment... sprint, olympic or full. You will feel so good when it's over with! If you need a swimming, biking or running buddy let me know... I need to get back into all of those things. Are you an early morning exerciser? Seriously... I signed up for the SL half marathon and haven't run since Jonathan was born. I need help.
