So here's my new favorite joke.....
Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Orange?
Orange who?
Orange you going to laugh that Sarah STILL doesn't have a functioning dryer?! AAAHHH!
The dryer debacle lives on...
So, first I ordered an electric dryer with a gas hook up. Not brilliant. Then the dryers were backordered and on hold somehow in a customs shipment room from South Korea. They were finally released and one was scheduled to be delivered to my house on Saturday. However, when it arrived, it looked as though they had been playing kickball with it (a difficult feat at best), as the whole right side was caved in.
The delivery guy gave me the whole, "Well, I could try to pound it out flat" solace....really?! I just paid (HOW MUCH?!) for a new digital LG washer and dryer set that is not intended to be scratch and dent (thank you very much) so although I appreciate your lame attempt at "help", I would not appreciate you taking a whack at pounding it flat and pretending as though it's not crushed on one side. We tried spinning the internal drum and as suspected, it was so damaged, the drum wouldn't even spin so his offer was moot. They took it away (obviously) and told me to call to schedule yet another delivery.
I have now called back again to find that they are once again "too busy to deliver immediately" and I will be waiting 10 more days for the dryer. You must be joking. I know I am the least patient person and I think this might be God's way of trying to force me into submission on this patience issue. Oh my goodness.
I recognize there are some people that habitually take their clothing to the laundromat - and while I am impressed and I think that's admirable, I'm not one of them. Going back and forth (and back and forth and back and forth) to my parent's with my laundry has been so obnoxious. It has nothing to do with my parents (as they are my favorite humans in the whole world), but seriously I don't have time for this back-and-f0rth-laundry-shenanigan.
Whew...feeling a little better now that I got it all off my chest and out of my head. What a mess. I guess the Positive-Patti way to think about this is that once the blasted dryer actually arrives, I will be SO grateful for it, I will likely never take the opportunity to do laundry from granted again. Ladies, any time you are lamenting doing laundry, remind yourself that it could be worse....you could be carting it all to your parent's house and w-a-i-t-i-n-g impatiently between each load. Makes laundry at your own home seem SO much easier! :)
or.. you could be walking it to the laundromat and thankful you can get an entire day of laundry done in 1.5 hours. Plus, during the first half hour you go for a quick stroll on the beach and you feel good because you are accomplishing something while you are also basking in the earth's glory. :) You return to the mat to put things in the dryers, then off to the drug store to pick up a few things....(which if you dry on medium heat it doesn't make your clothes smell like burning, this might just bea problem at the public facilities but just something I have discovered and thought I would pass on)... yet another accomplishment!! Until the day you notice a funky smell in the laundromat while putting the clothes in the dryer... And it happens to be coming from a homeless gal staked out inside.. For what I don't know, but I wasn't about to take any chances. Needless to say the trip to the drugstore is aborted.
ReplyDeleteIn conclusion, I am also working on my patience.. My dryer is isn't even on order, set to be delivered. So you are more fortunate than I. And I am just thankful that while I don't have a washer/dryer, I have a home - even if it doesn't have hook-ups.
But its those little things that I need to remind myself of.
miss you. :)
